Getting Old...

Today's share is a fun birthday card, filled with sarcasm. Kind of...but as a thirty-something girl, I can totally relate to the sentiment! Can you?
I used one of {ippity}'s February releases, "Sucks to Get Old". You can now order that set directly from the Unity website-just click on me as your {ippity} chick!
I paper pieced it with white and hot pink cardstock, then mounted it onto a cropped Spellbinders die cut. The sentiment is heat embossed with white embossing powder. It was a challenge for me to do a "color pop" card like this because I love patterned paper and lots of color! However, I wanted to play along with this week's challenge at the Play Date Cafe. The challenge was to use black and white, with just a splash of hot pink. I missed the deadline to enter, but still wanted to give it a try! You just never know what technique will give you great results!

I can finally share all of the projects that I made for CHA! I'm SO excited that my cards are on display at the show. I'm hoping to see a pic of them on display there! :D

Krafty Hello

I made this card for several challenges. The colors were inspired by the photo above, from the CR84FN Color challenge #12. Soft and pretty, and very feminine, don't you think? These would make great colors for an Easter card, too.

I used the Card Patterns Sketch #99 for this. I loved this sketch-it's a great design that I know I will use again and again. I think it's the scalloped border-one of my favorite things to include on a card. You could easily change this up by using a different border punch in place of the scallop. My scalloped border is actually a premade chipboard border from Technique Tuesday. As I try to use up some of my stash, I am finding lots of goodies that I had forgotten about! The chipboard circle, scalloped circle, and flower stamp are also from Technique Tuesday.

I'm lovin' my kraft cardstock lately, and this is my entry for the Kraft Journal's Anything Goes challenge this week. finally, it is also my entry for the new Altered Alice challenge blog to create a hello or goodbye card.

Love You Tons

Even though this card is really simple, it was a hard for me to make! Tiddly Inks' "Refresh Me" challenge was to make an all-white card (the image could be colored.) I don't think that I have ever made a card like this before. I started with the image, which was fine because I could use my colors. Then I struggled because I wanted to use patterned paper-I chose embossed cardstock instead. Then, I wanted to add some fun green ribbon-I chose white twine instead. Finally, I REALLY wanted to add a colored button-but chose white instead. It was tough, I tell you!

This cute little elephant is a free digital stamp from Tiddly Inks. When I printed him, I was trying to think of a cute little saying. As I was looking through some of my clear stamps, I saw this cute little saying in a pack of Studio G valentine sentiments. I had never had a stamp that worked with it, so it had sat, un-inked, for a couple of years. I can't wait to make more using these two stamps! While I do feel "refreshed" by this challenge, I can't wait to add some fun, colorful embellishments to my next cards!

Also, I have not heard from my second place winner from last week's [ippity} stamp giveaway. So, I have drawn another name. Congratulations to...KELLY CRANFILL! Woo-hoo! I know Kelly has a sweet little boy and a new little girl at home, so I know she will have lots of occasions to use the "Love in Return" stamp set from {ippity}.

Lots of Love

Today's card was originally a new baby card-I just thought that these soft colors reminded me of a new baby. You could easily change this card up by using reds and pinks and making it a Valentine. All stamps are from Unity's "Mix-Up of Cuteness." Cardstock is from Momenta. Many of Momenta's cardstocks have a bright or deep shade on the front and a softer color on the back. I used the softer colors for this card.

Plum Birthday

I made this elegant card for my mother-in-law's birthday. I started out with a very different design in mind, but ended with this simple design. I loved it! The embossed background was just what this card needed to make the white space as elegant as the image.

As you can see from the inspiration photo above, this card is made using the beautiful colors that Kim has selected for this week's Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge. The plum/burgandy and taupe cardstock are from SEI, and I think that the ribbon is from SEI, too. I'm not sure-I've had it in my stash forever! The paper, however, is brand-new. I just received it from CARDS magazine as a goody for being published in the September 2010 issue. :)

The design is based on this sketch from Create with Connie and Mary. The JUGS Challenge this week was to decorate and line a matching envelope for your card. It gave it such a finished look!

Butterfly Note Card

Today's share is a really quick and easy card to make. I paired up some of my favorite {ippity} and Unity stamps and used all scraps from my stash. The notebook image is from Unity's "Le Chic" set, the butterfly is from {ippity}'s How YOU Doin'? set, and the sentiment is from {ippity}'s "Just Wanted to Say" set. You can get these awesome {ippity} stamps HERE. The little metal clip from Making Memories is the perfect touch for this card.

I made this card based on the sketch from Lucy Abrams' Sketch Week (Day 5). The color palette is from the Curtain Call Color Challenge #63.

More happy news: I woke up this morning and read that my Doily Thank You made the Top 3 over at CASE Study, and my Gift Bag Topper won the Unity Addicts Challenge! It's been a very good week-I can't stop smiling. :) (See?!)

My Scrappy New Year's Goals

I have set a big goal for myself this year. Several scrappy friends have been talking about doing the popular Project 365 albums, where they take a picture each day and scrapbook it. At the end of 2011, they will have 365 photos. I'm not much of a scrapbooker, but I am a die-hard cardmaker. I also like to hoarde scrapping supplies. :) I am combining these two "talents" to create my own spin on Project 365. I am going to post a new project each day (usually a card, but sometimes a layout, tag, gift bag, etc.) My goal: to have completed 365 projects by the end of 2011. The twist: I am not allowing myself to buy ANY new scrappy supplies (other than adhesive) until I meet my goal. That's right-no new stamps, papers, punches, or ribbon. These are all major weaknesses for me! I am, however, continuing to design for Momenta (a VERY generous company that sends me monthly goody boxes) and I am also going to be entering many, many challenges in hopes of winning some new supplies. (Winning is very different from buying, lol!

I am sharing a few cards with you today. The first two are for this past week's 365 Cards Challenge. This is a new challenge site for me, but it will hopefully keep me both motivated and inspired this year. Monday's challenge was to pick 3 patterns from a list of choices. I chose houndtooth, paisley, and plaid. Since I am trying to use up my scraps, I punched hearts from each of these patterns (and I threw in a polka dot just because I liked it!) Then I stitched the hearts to my card front, scored the edges, and added a stamped sentiment and three tiny gems. Not a bit of adhesive on this card! This card is also based on Day 1 of Lucy's Sketch Challenge.

Tuesday's challenge was "Let's Make Some Noise!" The task: add something that makes noise to your card. I thought about this one for a long time. As I was looking through my stamp sets, I saw the VW bug stamp and the "Just Married" license plate. I thought it would be cute to tie some "cans" to the back of the car. I searched through my embellies, looking for silver beads for the "cans". What I found instead were these two album extenders which came in a package of page protectors. They jingle when you tip the card, making just a bit of noise. I thought it was a pretty creative idea. :)

The third and final card of the day is for my friend and fellow Momenta designer, Kelly Cranfill. She recently had a little girl, Braelyn Joy. Congratulations, Kelly! This card uses a premade card base and chipboard stickers from Momenta. I tried a new technique that I just saw in the new Scrapbooks Etc. magazine. I put masking tape on the back of plain white muslin, then embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder. It really works! It was the perfect touch for my card. This is also my entry for the Cardabilities Sketch Challenge #18.

Sew Sweet Thank You Card

We are all recovering from the busy holiday, and in Maine we are gearing up for our first big snow of the season. I love snow, so this makes me very happy. :)

Our family is also taking today to play with our "toys". With 2 teenagers, this means lots of electonics, lol. My husband is enjoying the fact that he is in control of the TV today, and I am playing with lots of stamps, ink, and other crafty things. I am also happy that this is a vacation week for me, so I will get to play along with some of the online challenges that I have missed so much this past semester!

Today's card is based on two challenges: the Skipping Stones Design Sketch #56 and the Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 62. Check out the links to these challenges and play along! For this card, I used stamps from Lawn Fawn and Unity Stamp Co., and papers from Cosmo Cricket and Momenta.

More Winterberry Christmas Cards

I am in love with the Winterberry Line from Momenta! I am having so much fun using these chipboard stickers-and honestly, I am not a sticker girl. I do love chipboard, however, and these chipboard stickers are so cute you can whip up a cute card in minutes! These are a few more that I have made just this morning-I told you they were quick and easy!

CAS Christmas Cards

I got an early Christmas present from my friend Rachael, who also happens to be the DT Coordinator for Momenta. I love the Winterberry line-gorgeous paper and embellishments! For these super easy cards, I just layered embossed cardstock onto my card front using foam tape, tied silver ribbon around the embossed panel, then adhered a chipboard sticker and string. How easy is that? Quick + cute = two more Christmas cards ready to mail. :)

Get Sketchy #53

I am just loving my {ippity} stamps lately, so when I saw this week's Get Sketchy sketch, I immediately went to my {ippity} drawer to find the perfect stamps! I used a flower from the "Because of You" set, which is available on my {ippity} blog. I paired it with leaves from {ippity}'s "Fall for You" set and a birthday sentiment from Unity's "It's Your Day" set. The "Fall for You" set is also available on my {ippity} blog.

You will be amazed when you see the gorgeous cards from the Get Sketchy DT. You can see them all on the Get Sketchy blog, along with this week's sketch. Hope you can play along with us this week!

Also, there is still time to enter this week's challenge over on the Wee Memories blog! Our theme this week is "Sweet Treats-with a ribbon on top!" Simply make a card that incorporates a sweet treat-candy, cupcakes, birthday cakes, donuts, etc.-and add some ribbon. Easy as pie-oh, there's another idea for you! :)

New {ippity}-Thinking of You

I am still playing a bit with my new {ippity} stamps. This set, called Now & Always, is one of my favorites because of this flower. It's perfect for layering and paper-piecing.

I created this card for three separate challenges: H{ippity} Hop Sketch Challenge #17, Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #12 (photo inspiration), and Practical Scrappers' challenge to use 7 different supplies on a single project. My seven: acetate card, cardstock, patterned paper, stamps, ink, ribbon, and pearls.

DeNami Feature Product: Owls!

I think my owl stamps are slowly taking over my craft room. They are just so cute I can't help but buy them all! :) These little cuties from DeNami Design are no exception, plus they are the perfect size for creating fun scenes. The Owls Stamp Set is this week's Featured Product over on the DeNami Design blog.

For this card, I started with several tree images from DeNami. I used the Small Leafy Topiary, Round Leafy Tree, and Small Narrow Leafy Tree. Then I stamped one of the little owls (there are four in the set) on the middle tree. After coloring these images, I embossed this piece using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I then stamped my little owl on a scrap of cardstock and layered her using a pop dot. This just made her stand out a bit more. I "need" dimension on my cards! :)

I finished my card with the "love you" sentiment from the Assorted Greetings Stamp Set, some American Crafts valentine ribbon and orchid pearls by Queen & Co.

It's Twins!

Not for me (thank goodness!) but for friends of ours. I made this card for them as a congratulations card. The babies are expected any day now-Mom's been to the hospital several times but they keep sending her home. :)

I used this week's sketch from the Unity Hippity Hop challenge, which also fit in perfectly with the Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #11. The challenge was to create a non-standard sized card. Basically, anything except A2 size. My finished card is 4"x8".

I used Unity's Little Me stamp set which I got a steal on a couple of weeks ago. $4! The set is adorable, and contains 8 stamps. I changed it up a bit by stamping the Mom/baby image twice, then using just the baby from the second image. Because our friend is expecting twins, I needed that second baby! So I put him in Dad's arms. This set was also perfect because it included the little boy and our friends also have a little boy, Oliver.

Other supplies on this card: "congrats" rub-on (congratulations, trimmed) by Pebbles, Inc., patterned paper by Creative Imaginations and Around the Block, ribbon (recycled from pj packaging from Target!), aqua button by DeNami Design. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I also added white flocking (Studio G) to the baby blankets.

Ippity Class

This weekend I held my first class featuring Ippity's "Fall for You" stamp set and papers by My Mind's Eye. The class had a great turn-out...the house was a bit crowded and hot but I think (hope!) everyone had fun. My favorite part was seeing my scrappy friends. We just don't get together enough!

For those of you that would like to order a kit for this class (includes stamp set and all papers/embellishments) the cost is $25. I am currently sold out of this stamp kit, but I will be placing another order next week.

Get Sketchy #45

I laughed a bit when I made my "For You" card featured in this week's Get Sketchy challenge. Why? Because I had already used the sketch by mistake a couple of weeks ago! So I actually have two cards to share made with this week's sketch-bonus for you!

The first card featured here is the card I made for my daughter's 15th birthday, which was Saturday. Crazy, huh? Seems like it was just yesterday that we were having a Tweety Bird party for her 5th birthday and here we are, 10 years later. All of the supplies are from Club SEI.

My second card is based on the same sketch, but looks very different because I used stamps and string in place of the die cut and ribbon. Stamp is by Hero Arts.

Some quick cards...

using more of the Momenta page kit. This is 5 cards so far from just one kit-and I've barely made a dent in the contents! I have been adding bits of cardstock and few little embellishments, but I'm impressed with long this kit has lasted. It's nice to have everything ready to go in the package to make a quick card. No rummaging through the scrap bins looking for things that go together. :) (Who am I kidding-the scraps rarely make it to the scrap bins these days. There are little piles everywhere!)

The first card, I {Heart} You, is really simple. But I like the way the sentiment stands out-it really grabs your attention. These are chipboard alpha stickers from Momenta. They are fun and have a touch of glitter. I also tried something a bit different-I used a pink puffy heart sticker on top of a white button. Looks cute, don't you think?

The second card, Just a Note, is also very simple, but it's a great card to keep ready in your card stash. I love these colors together-and the paper flower from Hero Arts matched the Momenta paper perfectly. Gotta love that. :)

DeNami Product Challenge

I was so excited to see the official post on the DeNami Design blog today welcoming the new design team members! Also up over at the blog is a new challenge-this one focuses on one of my favorite embellishments: buttons! Check out the challenge HERE. To play along, simply create a project using buttons and at least one DeNami stamp. The winner of the challenge will win a $30 DeNami gift certificate!

For my card, I used the Cupcake Tower stamp. I stamped the image onto white cardstock and used my oval cutter to cut out the image. I then mounted an assortment of pastel buttons to the back of the image, letting only half of the button show. This created a multi-colored, dimensional scalloped border around the image. Then I simply mounted the image onto my Cuttlebugged card base. A simple punched edge and gathered ribbons complete this card. Simply but fun, don't you think?

Santa and Reindeer

These little images by Studio G are just too cute, don't you think? I would LOVE to find this set for myself-these were my mom's. The set also came with a little snowman. What a steal for $1!

As with a lot of my stamped images, I paper-pieced the santa and reindeer. First, however, I stamped both images on the white background, then ran it through my Sizzix Big Kick with a Cuttlebug embossing folder (Swiss Dots.) That way, I didn't have to try to cut out the little antlers and feet. I just colored them in on the white base, then stamped each image on colored cardstock. Since I don't have Copic markers (yet!) I find that I get the cleanest, boldest results from paper-piecing. Stickles add a little sparkle to the images. To finish the card, I stamped "Be Merry" with a Hero Arts stamp, and tied on some ribbon and buttons.

Very simple, but I have to say, this was one of my favorite cards this year.
