May Counterfeit Kit

This month, the Counterfeit Kit Challenge has chosen to counterfeit kits from one of my very favorite kit companies, Studio Calico.  The name of the kit that we are counterfeiting is called "City of Lights".  Here is the inspiration kit:

I really loved the colors and embellishments in this kit, so I tried to match the elements as closely as I could from items in my stash.  Here is my kit:

For me, embellies are the best part of the kit.  Here is a larger photo of my embellies:
I am super excited to use the new clear stamps on the right from The Craft's Meow.  I have been wanting a banana-seat bicycle stamp, and this one is so cute!  The kraft tags were made using a couple of different Cricut cartridges for the cut-outs, then I trimmed the tag around them.  I am not really a tag girl, but these are really cute, and I can't wait to use them.  I think these are the perfect size for cards.  The best part of creating my own is that I also have the "positive" shapes to use as little embellies!  I don't throw anything away! LOL  I also created my own "wood" frame from a piece of patterned paper.  I used my oval cutter for the center, then traced the outside of a chipboard frame and cut with my tiny scissors.  Not quite sure how I will use this yet. :)  Finally, I added some epoxy brads, mandarin baker's twin for a pop of color, and some washi tape from Target.

I chose to counterfeit the Montmarte Add-On this month, too.  I have to REALLY love an add-on to include it!  Here is the inspiration add-on kit:

And here is a larger photo of my add-on kit:
Check out the woodgrain ruler paper in the lower left-Thompson Furniture Company!  I love it-I am going to have to come up with a special project for that one!  I chose not to include the chipboard alphas, as there are several alpha options in my main kit.  I made my own kraft journaling spots by stamping some of my frame stamps on kraft with white pigment ink.  The stamp in the inpiration kit reminded me a lot of this "Always a Friend" stamp that just came in my Simon Says Stamp card kit, so I had to include it.  The kittle rectangle tags are actually leftover from an Imaginisce card stack-they are almost exactly like the ones in the inspiration kit, they are the perfect colors, and I always forget to use them because they are in the "stack" instead of with my other embellies.  Finally, I substituted some chevron twill and some dotted ribbon for the washi tapes.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and checking out my kit!  I hope to get a lot of mileage from this kit-I love the colors and the embellies.  I just need to find time to scrap this month!  Last month, I made 9 cards from my kit-hope to break that record this month!
