8 Cards from my July Counterfeit Card Kit!

My month of Guest Designing for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge will soon come to an end, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a ton of projects to share with you!  First let me share that today's projects were not made with my July main kit-instead, I created a smaller Counterfeit Card Kit.  You can absolutely do this every month, too, if you are a cardmaker!
This month, our inspiration kit was the Summer Boardwalk Kit from Citrus Twist.  Instead of copying the kit exactly, as I did with my main kit, I made a very generic list of kit contents.  My list included things like: "chevron patterned paper", "masculine print paper", and "textured embellies."  Definitely generic, but with plenty of room for interpretation!  This is a totally legit way to play along when your stash doesn't seem to work with the inspiration kit, or when the inspiration kit just isn't your style.  I also wanted to include some sketches, so I printed some that I had already pinned on Pinterest.  Here are pics of my kit contents:

Patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket, Pebbles, Colorbok, Echo Park, Imaginisce, and TPC (a 6x6 piece of each to make me feel like I had a new 6x6 bundle to work with!)...

tiny alpha stickers, chipboard letters, felt embellies, paper flower, ribbon, buttons, twine, and a vintage pattern print in place of the vintage book page...

and uber-cute Lawn Fawn.  :)  I substituted the border stamps for the washi tape in the inspiration kit.

Now for my my sketches and cards.  I made 2 cards from each sketch, for a total of 8 cards from my little kit!  Click on the sketches to be taken right to their websites.

"Delightful" Gift Bag

I realized today that I haven't shared a few of my recent creations with my blog readers-I have several projects that weren't picked up for the last Paper Crafts magazine call to share over the next few days.  Today's project is a gift bag that I made for the call to use sentiment stamps in a creative way.  I used the "Delightful" clear stamp from Simon Says Stamp to create a lightbulb shape.  The wires inside the lightbulb are a combination of heart stamps and hand-drawn lines.

Papers are from Sassafras Lass and Smash tape is from K&Co.  Here is a close-up of the tag:

Thanks for stopping by today!  Now back to cleaning my scraproom! :)

Operation Write Home

I am Guest Designing for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge this month, and I loved that our first challenge for July was a cardmaking challenge. :)
The challenge: use your July Counterfeit Kit to create cards for Operation Write Home.
I created 3 cards already, but I think I will add more as the month goes on.  I find that I make many more cards than I actually mail, and this is such a great cause.  Hope those that serve will enjoy sending my cards to their loved ones back home. :)

Here are shots of the individual cards:

Thanks so much for stopping by today-I would love it if you left me a comment!
We would love to have you join us for this challenge!  Let's see how many cards we can make for OWH-post your number in a comment on THIS post!

Whole Lotta Hoppin' Going On...

Scrapbook Steals July Blog Hop

More hopping fun for you today!  You should be arriving here from Julie's blog.  If not, you will want to start right at the beginning of the hop, on the Scrapbook Steals blog, so that you won't miss out on any of the fabulous projects or your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to scrapbooksteals.com
I was so flattered when Kristy Lee from Scrapbook Steals emailed me and asked if I would be a guest for the July blog hop.  Umm, let me think about that for about 2 seconds... :) Then I panicked a bit when I received the product that we are featuring on today's hop: Fancy Pants Design Ribbon Bundles

My three trims were brown, brown, and brown!  Quite the challenge for a color-lovin' girl like me!  I soon found that these trims were so fun and versatile-check out my projects for some fun ways to use this package of embroidered muslin trim, rickrack, and seam binding!
My favorite project is this altered embroidery hoop, which uses all three of these trims.  Can you find them all?  The rickrack and embroidered muslin are stitched to the background, and I crinkled the seam binding to tie around the top:

Here are close-ups of the banner and tag:

Won't you agree that "Handmade is Better?" :)

I used up my scraps to make 2 little cards.  "Cherry-O" uses the embroidered muslin made into a little rosette and embellished with a button.  "UR Just My Type" uses the last bit of seam binding.  I left some of it crinkled to use as a bow. It reminded me of the old typewriter ribbons!  I also used my ribbon iron to iron the tiny piece that I had leftover and adhered it flat with my banners.  Do you see it peeking out on the left?

I hope that you have enjoyed today's projects.  I had so much fun making them!  You can "steal" your own Fancy Pants Ribbon Bundles HERE at Scrapbook Steals!
Your next stop on the hop is Corrina ColquhounHappy hopping, and don't forget to leave some love for a chance to win!  You have until Sunday, July 8th, at midnight to leave a comment for a chance to win!

July Counterfeit Kit

I am so excited to share that I am the Guest Designer for this month's Counterfeit Kit Challenge!  This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite challenge blogs-filled with such creative ideas and projects.  And they are totally DO-ABLE ideas because they are from real scrappers just like me.  I also love that there is never a "wrong" way to make a kit or an embellishment-you just do what you like, using what you have!

So for our blog hop today, you should have arrived here directly from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog.  Our inspiration kit this month is the Summer Boardwalk kit from Citrus Twist Kits.  Beautiful colors and patterns, plus some really fun embellishments!  I didn't have any of the actual papers and embellishments from the kit, but I did have some similar papers in my Lost and Found II paper pad from My Mind's Eye.  Here are my patterned papers:

The inspiration kit also included some vintage book paper, tiny alphas and some really fun decorative tape.  I included the vintage book page and some tiny alphas from a Momenta Super Paper Pad.  although I have several rolls of washi tape, none of them really went with my kit papers.  However, I did have a few sheets of patterned paper that were very similar to the tapes in the inspiration kit.  Plus, they coordinated with the papers in my own kit!  Bonus! :)  So, I simply included some borders cut from those patterned papers.

I included some super fun Amy Tangerine alphas that I recently found on clearance at AC Moore.  I bought them because they were such a fun grey/black grid pattern-and because I love anything Amy Tangerine. :)  I also had the MME stamps that coordinated with my papers, so I definitely included those.  I loved the speech bubbles from the inspiration kit, but I'm not sure yet if I want to use them on a card or on a layout yet.  I included my Create a Critter Cricut cartridge to cut those cute bubbles when I need them for my project.

Finally, my fun embellies: handmade buttons that I made by stamping various patterns on chipboard circles from Technique Tuesday (trying to bust my chipboard stash!), a tiny stamped doily like the one from Amy Tangerine, a banner die cut from Basic Grey, and goldenrod seam binding.  I substituted the linen thread for the teal floss in the inspiration kit because it is my favorite and I just can't get enough of it lately!  I love, love, LOVE the veneer embellies in the inspiration kit, so I included 2 different woodgrain papers from my DCWV Green Stack.  The teal woodgrain is perfect because I will be able to counterfeit the look of "misted veneer" without any of the mess!  I also included some plain canvas to counterfeit some of the Amy Tangerine fabric stickers.  They are too cute!

So there you have it-my fun July Counterfeit Kit that I am anxious to break into!  I hope you enjoyed seeing what I added-I can't wait to see your kits, too!  There are lots of great ideas to be found in today's blog hop!  Your next stop is:
