Get Sketchy #39
Today's card is my take on the latest sketch from Get Sketchy. I really loved Bree's sketch this week-it featured a focal point image or embellishment, plus a spot for a border or trim.
That being said, I took a lot of liberties with the sketch because of the technique that I wanted to try with paper from this week's sponsor, The Robin's Nest. The patterned paper featured a dusty blue background with a glittery grid-like design. To make the design pop, I used a craft knife to carefully trim around the design in the paper. I was so happy-it looks like the lace paper that some companies produce.
I popped this paper up on my teal card front using tiny foam squares, then attached a cardstock "frame" over the top. Because I wanted quite a bit of my "lace paper" to show,I moved the center image down. My sentiment is a clear sticker applied to white cardstock, then trimmed and mounted on a deep teal Hero Arts flower. I attached this over the border created with punched cardstock and leaf ribbon.
I'm glad you stopped by today-hopefully I've inspired you to create your own lace paper. If you try this technique, please let me know! I love to see what you all have come up with.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the Get Sketchy DT's cards. We'd love to see your cards featuring this week's sketch-and you could win a prize pack from The Robin's Nest!
