Neopolitan Birthday Card

See...it IS possible to link everything to ice cream! :) I thought this was an appropriate name for this card because it features one of my favorite color combinations: pink, white and brown. (Otherwise known as strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. YUM!)
I was inspired by fellow design team member Jo Ann to use my sentiment as a background stamp. She used this technique on a graduation card recently and I knew I wanted to try it. I created my card based from chocolate brown cardstock. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from THIS set repeatedly over my card front using Versamark watermark ink. I then cut a square window in the lower right corner of my card. For the cupcake image, I stamped the Cupcake Tower on white cardstock and colored with Bic Mark-It pens. I matted this image with pink cardstock and adhered it to the inside of my card, lining it up with the window. Finally, I finished the card with ribbon and a button. Still have some unpacking to do from this weekend's camping trip, plus I have a couple of finishing touches to add to projects. Busy afternoon, but I hope to relax tonight and watch Avatar!

You're a Tweetie!

I love this little stamp from DeNami Design-who could resist these cute little chickies and a fun sentiment? Even better, it is all one stamp (image + sentiment) so you don't have to stress about lining everything up. It's also versatile because it could be used for Valentine's Day or just as a little "thank you" to someone.
I am submitting this card to the Cards Blog challenge this week. The challenge was to make a card with "punny" sentiment. I am also hoping to make a card using the cute little sea creatures on my new "Create a Critter" cricut cartridge. (Try saying that one five times fast!) The Imaginisce blog asked readers to come up with some cute sayings to go along with their new line featuring sea creatures and the results were incredible! You crafty girls are so creative! You can see all of the ideas HERE.

Baskets of Friendship

Here's another card that I made with that same 12 x 12 Perfect Page kit that I talked about yesterday. I love this one! The kit comes with this beautiful 8 x 8 die-cut paper. I trimmed off one side, then folded it in half for my card base. I cut a circle from teal cardstock, added the flower basket sticker and some gems. For my sentiment, I just added a sticker from the kit, punched a hole through the card front using my Crop-o-dile, then knotted a scrap of ribbon through the hole. So easy-but I think it's my favorite card of the week so far.
This card, along with "Sending You Sunshine" from yesterday's post, have already made it into the Momenta Designer Gallery on the website. Step-by-step directions for each will be available on the site soon, too. (I was very excited to see one of my cards showcased on Facebook! If you haven't joined the Momenta group on Facebook, you should head on over! Lots of giveaways and special deals being posted all month long!)
Ribbon by SEI; all other supplies by Momenta.
Thanks for popping by today. I will have lots of projects to share with you in the next few days, so be sure to keep checking back!

More Momenta...

Please note: This is my second post today. Please scroll down or click HERE to see my first card of the day.
Here is another card that I made using the same 12 x 12 Simply Perfect Page kit. I used the same colors of cardstock and patterned paper, but just changed it up a bit by matting the flower pot sticker, trimming the card front, and adding a simple punched border.
Cardstock: Momenta, The Paper Company; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Momenta; Border Punch: Fiskars (Thanks, Lesa!)

New goodies from Momenta...

I am so excited that my new goodies from Momenta have arrived! I had fun playing this weekend with everything. There are literally stacks of cardstock, paper, stickers, rub-ons, and chipboard everywhere in my scraproom. (No, this is not unusual-but this is NEW stuff, LOL)
I didn't really know where to start. I have to admit, it was a little overwhelming. So I started out small. I opened this adorable 12 x 12 Simply Perfect Page Kit and started playing. So far, I have made three cards with it and I haven't even made a dent in the contents! Still have tons of patterned paper, die cuts and stickers to use.
Remember, there is still one week left to receive 20% off your entire Momenta order! Just use the coupon code 20offinmay when you checkout.

Get Sketchy #39

Today's card is my take on the latest sketch from Get Sketchy. I really loved Bree's sketch this week-it featured a focal point image or embellishment, plus a spot for a border or trim.
That being said, I took a lot of liberties with the sketch because of the technique that I wanted to try with paper from this week's sponsor, The Robin's Nest. The patterned paper featured a dusty blue background with a glittery grid-like design. To make the design pop, I used a craft knife to carefully trim around the design in the paper. I was so happy-it looks like the lace paper that some companies produce.
I popped this paper up on my teal card front using tiny foam squares, then attached a cardstock "frame" over the top. Because I wanted quite a bit of my "lace paper" to show,I moved the center image down. My sentiment is a clear sticker applied to white cardstock, then trimmed and mounted on a deep teal Hero Arts flower. I attached this over the border created with punched cardstock and leaf ribbon.
I'm glad you stopped by today-hopefully I've inspired you to create your own lace paper. If you try this technique, please let me know! I love to see what you all have come up with.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the Get Sketchy DT's cards. We'd love to see your cards featuring this week's sketch-and you could win a prize pack from The Robin's Nest!

DeNami Sketch Challenge #2

I love to work with sketches for both cards and layouts-sometimes it's just the springboard that I need to jump-start my creativity. Sometimes I see a sketch and immediately know which products that I'm going to use with it. That's what happened when I saw this month's sketch for the DeNami Design Sketch Challenge. I just love these little Safari Animals and knew that the three of them would be perfect with this sketch.
I started with a kraft card base, then added a fun banner cut from American Crafts patterned paper. I popped this up using foam squares. Then, I stamped, colored, and flocked the Safari Animals, matting them with lime, navy, and orange cardstock. I also attached these with foam squares. Finally, I stamped my sentiment across the bottom using the All Occasions stamp set.
I hope you can all play along with this week's Sketch Challenge! As always, there are some fun DeNami products to be won! Please check out the DeNami blog for details and to see all of the fun cards created by the other DT members.
