Laurie's Color Challenge

Sometimes figuring out which colors to use on a project is the hardest part, especially when you are using just solid cardstock. Patterned paper allows you to pull colors from the paper-the work is kind of done for you. Color challenges can also make cardmaking easier by doing this step for you.

It's the 5th of the month, so it's time for another challenge from DeNami Design-and this week it's a color challenge. Laurie from our design team came up with this beautiful color scheme to use-aren't those colors so soft?

I decided to raid my scrap folders for papers in these colors and found only small scraps. No problem-they were the perfect sizes to create this grid-like design. First, I stamped the Round Leafy Tree on different square scraps, then rounded one corner on each square. I also colored the leaves in with a marker and added little touches of white using a gel pen. I matted these on a single white mat and rounded all four corners. I also decided to try something different with my sentiment. I punched a strip of white cardstock with my Threading Water border punch, then punched it again (just the ends) with my Leave It To Weaver border punch. I then stamped "Thinking of You" in the space between punches. To finish off the card, I used DeNami's Sheer Emerald Ribbon and a Boutique Button.

Please head on over the the DeNami blog to see Laurie's fabulous color swatches and the other cards from the design team. Then break out your stamps and create your own to enter in our challenge! The prize is a fun package of goodies from DeNami!

Hi Sherri! I love how you used the round leafy tree! The scallop border with the ribbon pulled through is so pretty. Your attention to all the details in this card are fantastic. Wonderful job! :)
