January Counterfeit Kit

I am so excited that I had time today to pull together a kit for this month's Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  The inspiration kit is so fun-lots of red, pink, and aqua.  The kit is called Merry Winter, and it is from a cute little Etsy shop called Paper Issues.  Here is the original kit:

A Merry Winter December FITkit Scrapbooking Kit

Love, love, love it!
And here is my counterfeit version, called "Cold Hands, Warms Hearts":

It looks like I included a ton of patterned paper, but there really isn't that much because most of the sheets are from 6x6 paper pads or are scraps.  I had lots of fun making the die cuts and handmade embellies for this kit.  I absolutely loved the deer print paper from the inspiration kit, so I went with that idea and cut some cute deer embellies using the Cindy Loo cartridge and my Cricut.

I did some other substituting, too, such as my glitter ribbon instead of sequins and the button/music note accents for the rosettes.  I also didn't have the calendar paper from Studio Calico, so I added a date stamp from AC and a calendar die cut to one of my tags.  Here's a larger photo of my embellies:

I am also determined to do more scrapbooking this year.  I LOVE to make cards, but I miss having finished scrapbooks to share.  I have wanted to do Project Life for a couple of years now, but I admit I am overwhelmed by the thought (and the COMMITMENT!)  Inspired by a lot of other frugal scrapbookers, I decided to make my own version of Project Life.  Here is my Project Life Add-On:

Baseball card protectors from Dollar Tree, my own plain white cards that I will embellish using my monthly Counterfeit Kit, one large alpha stamp set, some old calendar rub-ons, and 3 Smash pads.  Total new investment to try Project Life: $1.00!  This format will also allow me to scrap my preferred size (8.5 x 11) when I want to do an entire layout, and still include it in one album.  Fingers crossed that this approach will work for me!

I am off to play with my new kit now-I can't wait to make some little journaling cards and accents to use in my new PL!  Thanks for popping by today!

Love your kit! The embellies are adorable!!!! And I love that you used a lot of 6x6 paper! I need to challenge myself to use some of my smaller papers, too!

Nice take on the kit. You did warm it up with the golds. I like your ideas to take PL and make it work, your own way. I make up 3x4 journal cards at the end of each CKC kit, with my scraps and then use them on layouts.

Your kit is much more warm tones than the inspiration one, and I like it very much this way!
Way to go for counterfeiting items you don't have. I'm in love with that deer (did you did it with a die? it's too cute!).
I want to make kind of life project too, but I don't think I'll be able to commit myself.... Good luck for you:).

Good luck with your project life, Sherri! I am hoping to keep up this year and also catch up on the past few months. I like that you're using the smaller size - sounds like a good idea!

Your kit looks fantastic! I've had my eye on the Cindy-Loo cartridge and seeing your deer makes me even more tempted!

Your project life add-on looks fabulous too, the smash pads should be a great addition! x

Love how you've used lots of paper scraps in your kit, it looks awesome! Good luck with your "project life" album. I plan to start one this year also, probably by month rather than by week.

Fabulous kit, love! You had me at deer, it's adorable. Too bad I don't have a Cricut or I'd be ordering that cartridge right now. LOL
