An early Christmas card share :)

I know it's only August-
much too early to be posting Christmas cards-
but I have a cute little gift card holder that I wanted to share. :)

This is a card I made for a recent card that didn't get picked up.

Love this stamp set from Paper Smooches!
I paired it with papers from Crate Paper
and a Maya Road kraft snowflake.

I like this design for the coffee cup-
I think I will try it with other shapes in place of the snowflake
(maybe a circle or heart?)

Thanks for visiting today! :)

Sigh...You are Fabulous.

What?  Two shares in two days?
That's a record for me this summer. :)

This is a "reject" from a recent call that is a bit different from my usual style.
It was my first time using gold paint,
but with gold trending right now, I wanted to give it a try.
I love all of the Pinterest pins that combine pastels with gold,
so I thought it would look great on a card.

The chipboard sticker and papers are from Basic Grey's Knee Highs collection, sentiment stamp is from Unity, and that fun gold paper fringe is from K & Co.

Thanks for popping by!

hello. :)

So, I got a not-so-subtle reminder that I haven't updated the blog for a while!
LOL
(Thanks, Steph!)

I have made a few cards over my summer vacation,
but haven't taken the time to share many.
Sorry!

Here's a bright one for you today.
I am in love with neon right now!
I just got the new neon ink pads from Hero Arts, too, so you'll probably need sunglasses to read my blog before the summer's over. ;)

I cut this fun kraft and neon background using the Creative Cards cartridge from Cricut.
Fun, huh?
The stamp is from Studio G.  I stamped it with Versamark
and embossed with black embossing powder.

I'm hoping that I have some time today to get inky.  Happy Tuesday! :)

Some Counterfeit Cards

School is out for me ow, so I get more scrappy time! :)

My first thought was to dive into my June Counterfeit Kit.  After all, I am guest designing this month, but so far, I have only done the required projects!  Time to have some FUN with my kit!

So far, I had only made one layout and one card.  I'm not sure if what I have left for kit materials would really work for any of my photos  right now, so I focused on creating some cards, which I always seem to run out of!  One is even for a challenge!  Go, me! Ha!

First up is my take on Laurel Seabrook's Inspired By Challenge #79.  Here is the Pinterest image that inspired my card:

and here's my card, inspired by the grid layout, the repeated hearts, and the banner shapes:
The next three cards were made from my kit, also, but were just for fun. :)

Thanks for popping by today!  If you haven't already created your own Counterfeit Kit for June, please visit the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog and see our inspiration kit for this month.  We also have a wonderful new sponsor this month, Little Blue Button Stamps.  We'd love to have you play along!

My "Counterfeit" Stamp Set

Yesterday I shared my main kit for the month of June.  Today I am sharing the little stamp add-on that I made based on Scraptastic's After the Storm stamp set.

Here is the inspiration set (left) and my version (right):
My stamps are a hodge-podge from Studio G, The Craft's Meow, Paper Smooches, Imaginisce, We R Memory Keepers, Unity, {ippity}, Hero Arts, Lawn Fawn, and Studio Calico.  I did some masking and building with the sun/clouds.  I think it came out cute!  Also, I double-stamped my stars to give the same sketched effect as the stars in the inspiration kit.  Fun!  I might try this with my clouds on a project, too.

After looking through some of the other Scraptastic stamp sets, I knew that I wanted to add a few more from my stash.  Some of them are shown above, plus I threw in a few more for good measure.  A kit can never have too many stamps, right? :)

I hope that you will play along with us this month-check it out here: www.counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com

June Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop

Happy Saturday!  Can you believe that it's JUNE already?  Only 8.5 days of school left for me-summer's coming!
Bethany from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge has chosen such fun, summery kits to inspire us this month: the May kits from Scraptastic Club.

I based my kit on the After the Storm main and add-on kits.  Great blue and green color scheme, plus some really fun embellies.  Here's my kit:

A mix of very old (2006!) and very new (2013) papers, plus a couple of my counterfeited papers.  I loved the bokeh papers in the inspiration kits, so I made my own mini versions using this tutorial from Lawn Fawn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfrSC6rER2A.  For my butterfly paper, I simply punched 20 butterflies from notebook patterned paper and used a glue stick to adhere them to polka dotted patterned paper.  Cute. :)

And the fun stuff-the embellies.  Nothing counterfeited exactly, more just "inspired by".  I DIYed 2 things: one paper (did this while I was pulling my embellies, thus the pic of it with them) and the ombre letter stickers.
I really liked the hello text paper from the inspiration kit, and I wanted to try my own.  I used a sentiment stamp from Lawn Fawn and clear ink to repeatedly stamp on a scrap of smooth green cardstock.  I then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  I think it came out cute and will be perfect for a card.
I also knew that I could easily get the ombre look by using a trio of Copic markers on some white alpha stickers.  I did a few as examples, but I will color them as needed when I start my projects.

Well, there it is!  Thank you so much for popping by!  The rest of your stops on the blog hop are from the DT.  Your next stop is Andrea!

A Bonus Kit and a Layout!

It's no secret that I just love Bethany from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.  I keep trying to convince her to move to Maine, but that hasn't happened yet.  Maybe I will have to relocate to the Midwest. ;)

When she messaged me to do a bonus kit with her based on one of the challenges from CSI: Color Story Inspiration, I jumped at the chance.  I love to make my own kits, and sometimes I even use them, LOL!

This is the Case File that we were inspired by:
Here is the kit that I made:
I used a PageMaps sketch to create this layout:

Cloud/stitching detail:

I still have quite a bit left in my kit to create a couple of cards, too.  Those little owl stamps are just too cute not to use today!  (They were also a gift from Bethany, sweet girl!)  They are part of a Christmas stamp set, but as you can see, they aren't Christmas-y at all!  I think they will be adorable on cards. :)

Thanks for looking!  Happy NSD!

Echo Park NSD Challenge #1

Happy National Scrapbook Day!

I am having SO MUCH FUN doing nothing but scrapping today!  In my jammies, to boot! LOL  I am also very grateful that we have not had any company today.  If the doorbell rings, I will pretend I am not home. :)

I have been playing along with a few challenges today.  There is so much happening online today!  The first project that I am sharing is a card for Echo Park's first challenge of the day: make a summertime card.

At first, I didn't think I could play along because although I have quite a bit of Echo Park product, none of it was really summer-themed.  Then I remembered that I have the entire digital Hello Summer collection!  I always forget my digi stuff because it's not right in front of me. :)  Here's what I came up with:

I printed the window box twice on white cardstock, then fussy-cut the flowers and layered them.  I also paper-pieced the window frame and awning.  The awning paper and background are both from Echo Park's Walk in the Park collection.  The little "Thanks a Bunch" sticker is from the Country Drive collection.

Thanks for popping by today.  I have a kit and layout to post in a bit, then it's back up to the scrap room to play some more. :)

Some bright, FUN cards!

I broke into my April Counterfeit Kit today.  I love this kit-such bright, quirky papers and fun embellies!  I made 3 cards today:

This one is my favorite!  I played with different techniques on the chalkstock, but the one that I liked best was to use Versamark ink and white embossing powder.  The heart border is just punched hearts adhered, then machine-stitched.  I will definitely be using this simple technique again-I can't wait to check out all of my old tiny Paper Shaper punches!

OK, so I love this one, too!  That green watercolor dot is one of my favorites from the Sketchbook collection.  I colored my butterflies with Copics.  Why have I never thought of that before?  Everyone swears by mists, but I HATE using mists.  I never get the effect that I want, and I get ink all over EVERYTHING!  The Copics were perfect for getting just the right coverage on these little butterflies.

This is one of the little circle tags that I counterfeited.  Although I loved the ones from Elle's Studio, I was more inspired by THESE lovelies from the Crate Paper blog.  I love dimension, and layered punches, foam tape, a veneer butterfly and a puffy heart gave me that dimension that I wanted.  The rub-ons that I used were SUPER old ones from my stash, too!  BONUS! :)

Thanks for popping by!

April Counterfeit Kit

The kit that we are counterfeiting for April is FUN!
It is the March 2013 kit from Gossamer Blue:

Since I didn't have any of the actual elements from the inspiration kit, I went with a different approach than I usually take.  I wrote down a couple of words that came to mind when I looked at the original kit: watercolor, brights, eclectic, hearts, stripes, polka dots.  Then I went through my stash and saw my Amy Tangerine Sketchbook paper pad.  Absolutely perfect!  So I chose the watercolor hearts, scribbles, and polka dots from that collection, and added a Sassafras squiggle and an Echo Park chevron.  Also, Glitz's Color Me Happy collection (from the inspiration kit) included a chalkboard-style paper, so I added a sheet of chalkstock to my kit.

For embellies, I chose a new "Snail Mail" stamp (it reminded me of the chalkboard fonts that are so popular right now) and some others from my stash.  The flower stamp is SUPER old, but reminded me of the watercolor theme.  I included puffy hearts in place of the enamel dots, some older Colorbok chipboard circles, veneer butterflies, a few die-cuts, buttons, cabachons, ribbon and washi.  Oh, and those adorable, glittery sentiment stickers from KI Memories!  I think they go perfectly with the overall feel of my kit.

I also plan on counterfeiting the cute little circle tags from Elle's Studio,
but I haven't gotten to that yet. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I have already made 3 cards with my kit-will be blogging them soon!  Have a great weekend!

A few more March kit projects...

My March Counterfeit Kit was the biggest ones that I have assembled in quite a few months!  I have eked out a few more cards from it, but I still hope to make a few more.  That kit will stay together in my scrap room for a bit longer. :)

Here are the latest 4 cards from that kit:

(This one is my mom's favorite!  She requested one like this for Mother's Day. :) )

(For my sweet and generous friend Heather-I will always have good memories of the I Heart {ippity} DT)

(This card still needs something-more buttons?  I will keep it out on my worktable until I figure it out!)

Thanks for looking-I have my April kit posted soon.  Full of bright colors and fun prints!

February CKCB Projects

Oops-just realized after posting my March Counterfeit Kit that I haven't shared any of my February projects yet. *blush*

Lots of cards! 8, to be exact, plus one tag.  One of the cards I can't share, however, because it is being published in Cricut magazine!  I am so excited! :D

Here's what I made:

Thanks for popping by!

March Counterfeit Kit

When I saw this month's inspiration kit from Noel Mignon, I thought, "WOW!  I love the colors! "  Then, as I googled each of the individual pieces for a closer look, I thought, "WOW!  I love this paper!  I need that!" or, "WOW! Adorable stickers! I need those!"  Then I had my "Aha!" moment and realized that the point of counterfeiting the kits is to take inspiration from the kit and make my own from my stash.  Oops...LOL!

Noel Mignon's "Soda Shoppe" Kit

So, I did just that...and created the largest kit I've ever made, jam-packed with lots of newer goodies that I have picked up over the past few months AND some oldies-but-goodies.  (Sassafras paper from 2010, anyone?)

I just kept adding things that I loved, trying to mimic individual pieces from the inspiration kit.  Here's my take on Noel Mignon's "Soda Shoppe" Kit:

LOTS of embellies-my favorite part! :)
Mostly Basic Grey's "Fact & Fiction" or "True Love" collections, plus lots of random die-cuts from Basic Grey and SEI.  I had so much fun pulling these pieces!  Can't wait to get crafty with them!

Thanks so much for checking out my kit!
