I am so excited that I had time today to pull together a kit for this month's
Counterfeit Kit Challenge. The inspiration kit is so fun-lots of red, pink, and aqua. The kit is called
Merry Winter, and it is from a cute little Etsy shop called
Paper Issues. Here is the original kit:
Love, love, love it!
And here is my counterfeit version, called "Cold Hands, Warms Hearts":
It looks like I included a ton of patterned paper, but there really isn't that much because most of the sheets are from 6x6 paper pads or are scraps. I had lots of fun making the die cuts and handmade embellies for this kit. I absolutely loved the deer print paper from the inspiration kit, so I went with that idea and cut some cute deer embellies using the Cindy Loo cartridge and my Cricut.
I did some other substituting, too, such as my glitter ribbon instead of sequins and the button/music note accents for the rosettes. I also didn't have the calendar paper from Studio Calico, so I added a date stamp from AC and a calendar die cut to one of my tags. Here's a larger photo of my embellies:
I am also determined to do more scrapbooking this year. I LOVE to make cards, but I miss having finished scrapbooks to share. I have wanted to do Project Life for a couple of years now, but I admit I am overwhelmed by the thought (and the COMMITMENT!) Inspired by a lot of other frugal scrapbookers, I decided to make my own version of Project Life. Here is my Project Life Add-On:
Baseball card protectors from Dollar Tree, my own plain white cards that I will embellish using my monthly Counterfeit Kit, one large alpha stamp set, some old calendar rub-ons, and 3 Smash pads. Total new investment to try Project Life: $1.00! This format will also allow me to scrap my preferred size (8.5 x 11) when I want to do an entire layout, and still include it in one album. Fingers crossed that this approach will work for me!
I am off to play with my new kit now-I can't wait to make some little journaling cards and accents to use in my new PL! Thanks for popping by today!
