It's a Shore Thing...

I just love this line from Imaginisce. It's called "A Shore Thing"-isn't this little hula-dancing penguin just the cutest? This is a sneak peek of the card that we will be making from our layout scraps in next Tuesday's class. The class will also include two 12 X 12 layouts that would be perfect for summer, beach or pool party photos. (if we ever get some sun to actually go to the beach or pool!)

Can you believe it's raining AGAIN? The other day on the news, the weatherman said that it had rained here for 20 out of the past 28 days. Well, it's rained every day since then, so those numbers are even larger now. He said this morning it has been the rainiest June on record here in Maine, beating the old record by over an inch. Not a record I'm interested in beating. :(

Hopefully this summery card will inspire you to create a warm-weather project, even if you aren't having warm weather right now. Off to make birthday plans-Jordan turns 14 later this week, and we are planning our "special day" together. Looks like a girls-only trip to the mall and to Olive Garden for lunch so far. Can't go wrong with shopping and iced cappuccinos!

8th Grade Prom Pics

I promised I'd share some of these-as you can see, she looked so beautiful and grown-up that night. Bittersweet for my husband and me, though. Where did the time go? She went from 0 to 13 (14 in eight more days) in the blink of an eye.

A Sneak Peek...

at Tuesday night's paper-piecing class at A Time to Remember. Our theme is "Summer in Maine" and we have a variety of projects planned. This sneak peek is an oversized die-cut tag in the popular label holder shape. The front of the tag is embossed with Swiss Dots and features three lupine flowers, a familiar sight here in Maine. This tag can be used on a scrapbook page or as a wallhanging (simply back it with chipboard for extra stability) or you can do what I did and turn it into a die-cut card. I'll be sharing this technique in class, too.
Our other two projects are 12 X 12 scrapbook pages. One is of the Maine coast, featuring a lighthouse, whale, and possibly the cutest lobster I've ever seen (if I do say so myself!) Our second layout has an amusement park theme, making it perfect for your pages about Funtown or one of the local fairs.

Pebbles, Inc. Goodness!

I was so excited to read one of the comments posted on my blog this morning. It was from Lindsay at Pebbles, Inc. I was a random winner of a new collection (new, as in, hasn't-even-been-released-yet!) of paper and stickers! What a great thing to wake up to on this dreary day. It's currently raining cats and dogs here-so glad I don't have to go outside for a while. Anyway, thought I'd share the sneak peek of this line, which is called "Lil' Miss". There is a new line for boys, too, called "Lil' Buddy"-you can see both HERE on the Pebbles, Inc. blog.

Kraft cardstock-my newest favorite thing

I have fallen in love wth kraft cardstock! I know it's not a new product, but I do think it's becoming hotter all the time. What I love about it is that it's so versatile! Definitely manly-use it with woodsy themed papers and stamps. Feminine? Absolutely-the contrast between ultra-feminine florals and the basic kraft looks great. For kids, too-again, use contrasting paper and colors (red and robin's egg blue look great with kraft.)

I decided to try some tropical colors like orange, pink and turquoise with kraft. The result was this cute little window card (which is also one of my submissions for the Hero Arts "Be Inspired" challenge this week.) My favorite thing about this card is the fussy-cutting around the border. I think the combination of the colored floral border and the Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock peeking out looks both fun and pretty.

The floral border and the little girl are from Hero Arts' Japanese Dolls set. The 'Happy Birthday" stamp is from Imaginisce.

Shout Out To Sheetload

While I was browsing online today, I came across this incredible site called Sheetload of Cards. This is a FREE monthly e-zine all about stamping and cardmaking! (This goes perfectly with this week's posts about cardmaking ona budget!) The "sheetload" of cards has step by step instructions, including sketches and cutting diagrams, for creating a batch of cards. Plus, they have some very creative designers who have color photos of their creations based on the month's sketches.
