Sweet Pea

Good morning! How about a clean and simple card to start your Friday?

I loved the "Little Me" stamp set by Unity. This little pea pod and "sweet pea" sentiment are from that set and fit the bill perfectly for a simple card. In addition, they were the perfect choice for the Etsy-Inspired Challenge this week. This week's EIC sponsor was EmenGee Designs. Be sure to check out the link because they have some super-cute stuff (including an adorable honeybee purse that is this week's prize!) So cute! So this is my submission for that challenge.

I also followed this week's sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I am loving these business-sized cards lately.

Thanks for stopping by today!

DeNami is this week's 2S4Y Sponsor!

It's been a little while since I've played along with the 2 Sketches 4 You challenges, so I was so happy when Paulina (from DeNami Design) told me that DeNami was this week's 2S4Y sponsor. There are a lot of sketch websites out there, but 2S4Y is one of the best. And I love this week's sketch because it features a scalloped border and the ever-popular label die-cut.

For my card, I started with a hot pink cardstock base from DeNami Design. I added two patterned paper strips to the right side of the card, then attached some mini pompom trim over the seam using micro brads from Queen & Co. For my image, I stamped Mimi on a white die-cut label, then paper pieced the image using various cardstock scraps and coordinating papers from Imaginisce. I also matted the label shape with paper from Imaginisce and pierced around the edge of the shape. Finally, I cut some flowers from the patterned paper, adhered them to my card front with pop dots and added some cute buttons from DeNami Design. (Did I mention that this week's prize over at 2S4Y was 5 bags of DeNami buttons? Love these things!)

Hope you have a chance to visit 2S4Y this week and maybe play along with the challenge. You have until Saturday, April 24th, to upload your card. Thanks for looking!

So Much Love

Here is my take on this week's sketch at 2S4Y. Very simple card-pretty close to the original sketch. I made the card business-sized, which is very different from what I usually make. It measured 8.5" X 3.5" finished. I am trying to make a dent in everything in my stash, and these papers, stamps and chipboard are all goodies that I brought home from CKC. Patterned paper from Sassafras Lass, yellow and pink Double Dot cardstock from Bo Bunny, stamps from Technique Tuesday, chipboard heart from Fancy Pants, border punch from Fiskars.

Thanks a bunch for looking!

Happy Independence Day!

Hope you're all enjoying your holiday weekend-kind of rainy here today, so we skipped the parade. We're hoping for better weather tonight for the fireworks.

This afternoon we are headed to my husband's aunt and uncle's house for their annual Fourth of July BBQ. Good food and the chance to see some family members that we haven't seen for a while.

I am sharing this card which satisfies two online challenges: 2S4Y and the Cuttlebug Challenge. This card is for Sketch #29 on 2S4Y. The Cuttlebug Challenge this week was to use red, white and blue, plus buttons. The bonus challenge was to use the Swiss Dots embossing folder (one of my favorites.)
This is also a great budget card since it is made almost entirely of scraps! The stars were punched from various blue cardstock scraps and embellished with mismatched buttons. I like the different shades of blue-gives the card a little oomph, don't you think?
